Thanks to everyone who came to the Tribeca New Music Festival meetup events. We had a great time, and heard some very cool music.

The NY Composer Meetup Group is really growing. In January there were around 60 members, now there are 94! This 50%+ increase presents an even bigger challenge in terms of organizing people and finding space.

So with your help, I'd like to conduct a little survey in order to better serve everyone. This is for existing members only, and totally confidential.

PLEASE help me by answering these questions.

Time and Location:
1) What is the best day and time for you to do a Meetup?
2) Where in NYC is a good area for you to meet, or is location not that important?
3) Are there any areas that are difficult for you to get to?
4) How old are you, and do you prefer meeting at a bar, club, theater, studio, church, restaurant, or does it matter?
5) What is a fair price to pay for attending a Meetup? (Remember, we don't get the space for free.)

Focus:
6) What are your top reasons for attending the Meetups?
7) Are you interested in attending outside musical events (concerts, recitals, gigs, etc.) through the Meetups?
8) What kind of music are you most interested in? (What are your musical turn ons?)
9) What kind of music are you NOT interested in? (What are your musical turn offs?)
10) What are your top subject suggestions or recommendations for our next Meetup?

We've had some great Meetups so far (very highly rated). I'd like to keep it real and stay on top of your musical goals.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry! Apparently a number of you came to the meetup at Jimmy's and were told there was no meetup! This was a mix up on the part of Jimmy's staff, and my fault too. Next time I'll make sure they ALL know about it.
For those of you who missed the March 26 meetup, we had a lot of fun working with Apple's GarageBand and composing on the spot! We also took a look at CueBase, an excellent program.

MEETUP ACTIVITY:
In other news, I'd like to invite everyone in the NY Composers Meetup group to the Tribeca New Music Festival. It's a series of 5 concerts with a wide variety of cool new music by some of NYC's best musicians. Go to www.nyae.org for show details.
The concerts are April 1, 2, 22, 23, and 24, at the Flea Theater in Tribeca, all at 7pm. General admission is $15.

The search is still on for another meetup location other than Jimmy's. Besides, it looks like Jimmy's is already booked through April. I'll keep you posted about the next meeting.

Hi Everyone,

Okay, this will be our second meetup. Our first one went really well, so we'll follow the same game plan: Bring a CD of your music, or something that you're really into and we'll play it in the background as we talk. Because we'll be in a bar/restaurant you can eat and drink all you want! (And of course, pay for it.)
Let's see how this location works out. It's difficult to find good meetup locations, and this is the only date I could get at Jimmy's.
But, I know this place. It's very, very, laid back and they've got a good bar.
