About The New York Composers Meetup Group

Hi everyone,

This group is about people who want to create music and it's open to composers, performers, song writers, lyricists, and others (dancers, film makers, artists) who are eager to connect and exchange ideas. Musical styles encompas a wide range--rock, pop, folk, orchestral, classical, avant pop, minimal, new age, etc.

Our first order of business has been interactive--getting to know each others music and goals--which is an ongoing process. New members are checking in all the time.

The group is interested in sharing and learning about new pieces, exploring performance and colaborative possibilties, and the creative process. Areas of focus are: --Practical (helpful websites, networking, marketing) --Music Technique (use of chords, loops, melody, texture, harmonic rhythm, contrast, etc.) --Inspirational (What do do when you get stuck, routine and discipline, collaboration, "The Artists way," helful tips and techniques), --Tech (Software, hardware, recording, instrumentation, etc.).
So, come to a meetup and share your music and ideas with us. It's very casual and fun.

Meetings take place on a monthly basis and are announced several weeks in advance.
